Cargill-Monsanto to test ethanol production in new plant

A production plant will be built in Iowa to test the effectiveness of new corn hybrids with increased energy and nutrient levels, according to Renessen LLC, a joint venture between agribusiness companies Cargill Inc. and Monsanto

The new plant will provide engineering data to help Renessen refine plans to build a full-scale ethanol plant and develop livestock feed markets

The products will be corn oil, ethanol and animal feeds including distiller's dried grains, a primary by-product of ethanol production.

The plant is expected to open in January 2007.
