Ukraine wheat harvest to see recovery in 2013

Ukraine's wheat harvest is expected to recover in 2013 to 19 million tonnes after falling by a third in 2012 due to drought, according to the country's Agriculture Minister, Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.

Prysyazhnyuk told reporters that farms had sown 6.7 million hectares of winter wheat for the 2013 harvest and that about 92% of sprouted crops were in good or satisfactory condition.

UkrAgroConsult consultancy said it expected the 2013 wheat harvest to rise by more than 40% to 21 million tonnes due to favourable weather during autumn sowing and winter.
