China VC: Prices surge as corn breaks new highs (week ended Jan 18, 2021)
Vitamin C producers continued to lift the prices of vitamin C as corn costs surged tremendously to all time high. Feed manufacturers, who were placing orders in preparation for the upcoming Chinese New Year holidays, increased purchases amid fears of a further price hikes and a supply crunch.
Prices of 35% phosphorylated ones rose to the range of RMB16.20-20/kg.
High production costs of vitamin C will lend strong support to the market. With corn availability tight, prices of vitamin C are likely to rise further amid limited production..
