Kazakhstan stops live cattle exports

The country's Ministry of Agriculture has stopped all live cattle exports from Kazakhstan to overseas countries to control beef prices, reported AKIpress News Agency.

Kazakhstan exported 156,000 heads of cattle overseas, with 78% to Uzbekistan and 14% to Armenia.

Sheep are also exported overseas. More than 200,000 heads of sheep have been exported from Kazakhstan, with 14% to Armenia, 8.1% to Russia, 6.7% to Azerbajian.

Kazakhstan is experiencing speculative price increases for meat products due to mass live cattle exports for processing and resale. The increased livestock exports have also affected Kazakhstan's meat processing plants, which do not have enough domestic raw product.
