Italy introduces additional measures to contain ASF outbreak
Italy has introduced additional measures to contain an African swine fever (ASF) outbreak recently detected in two northern regions, including swine culling and a six-month ban on restocking, Reuters reported.
Last week, a ban on hunting and other outdoor activities in 114 rural areas at the Piedmont and Liguria regions was signed by week Health Minister Roberto Speranza and Agriculture Minister Stefano Patuanelli.
The new measures also include increased surveillance, as well as regulations on hunting, agricultural, and pastoral activities within 10km of the ASF-infected area.
