Soy's 2010 global price rises by 40%

The global market price of soy grew by around 40% in 2010 to US$14.2 per bushel (27 kilogrammes).

This is good news for Austrian soy producers.

The branch association "Soja aus Österreich" reckons with further growth of cultivation area, as the demand keeps growing. In Europe above all the demand for GMO-free soy is strong.

Cultivation of soy increased in Austria greatly last year: in 2010 on 34,300 hectares 36% more soy was cultivated.
