In the world of livestock production, mycotoxins remain silent but formidable adversaries. These invisible compounds infiltrate feed, compromise gut integrity, weaken immunity, and gradually undermine animal performance.

For decades, producers have sought ways to counter these threats with varyingsuccess. Today, Alltech is redefining mycotoxin control with Mycosorb® A+ Evo and Mycosorb® Evo — next-evolution, patent-pending innovations delivering broader protection, enhanced efficacy, and proven real-world reliability against the diverse toxin challengespresent in global feed system.

Built on Legacy, Enhanced by Innovation

The Mycosorb Evo range is the product of extensive research, innovation, andcollaboration with producers worldwide. Building on the proven foundation of theoriginal Mycosorb®, these new formulations introduce a powerful advancement: a yeast cell wall extract combined with a new bacterial component. This synergy booststheproduct's ability to neutralize even the most challenging toxins —particularlydeoxynivalenol (DON) and fusaric acid (FA), which remain among themostprevalent and damaging mycotoxins detected in livestock feed globally.

Alltech's 37+ testing program, using advanced UPLC-MS/MS technology, has analyzedmore than 75,000 samples over the past decade. The data reveal a steady increaseinDON levels in wheat, barley, corn, and forages, while FA appears even more widespread— present in 82% of maize and 81% of forage samples. This reinforces theurgentneed for solutions capable of tackling multiple toxins simultaneously.

Understanding the Threat: DON and FA

Deoxynivalenol (DON), also called vomitoxin, is a Type B trichothecene producedbyFusarium fungi. It disrupts protein synthesis, induces oxidative stress, and damagescells— resulting in reduced appetite, vomiting, diarrhoea, and slower growth. Itsimmunosuppressive effects further heighten vulnerability to infections.

    •  In swine, DON reduces feed intake, growth, and reproductive efficiency.

    •  In poultry, it impacts egg quality, gut health, and hatchability.

    •  In ruminants, it impairs fertility, reduces milk yield, and weakens immuneresponse.

Fusaric acid (FA) adds to the challenge by elevating serotonin levels, loweringbloodpressure, and impairing bone formation. Although less toxic in isolation, FA's dangermultiplies when it co-occurs with DON — a common scenario in the field. The combinedeffects can severely affect animal performance across species, leading to reducedmilkyield, poorer egg quality, and reproductive problems.

Dual-Tier Solutions for Varied Risk Levels

The Mycosorb Evo range was engineered to meet these complex challenges. It providesboth targeted precision against specific toxins and broad-spectrumcoverageacrossdiverse feed contaminants.

    •  Mycosorb A+ Evo: For high-risk situations or particularly sensitive animal groups.

    •  Mycosorb Evo: For moderate-risk environments.

This tiered design enables producers to match the level of protection with their specificrisk profiles — ensuring balanced, cost-effective mycotoxin management without overuse.

    •  3 meta-analyses on layers, broilers, and growing pigs

    •  141 in vivo trials, 22 in vitro/ex vivo studies, and 35 reviewarticles

    •  Advanced in silico modeling to map molecular interactions between theproductand mycotoxins

Alltech's controlled scientific studies demonstrated that the Evo range enableddoublethe binding capacity for DON and a threefold improvement for FAadsorptioncompared with earlier formulations. The products also showed consistent bindingefficacyacross a wide range of regulated and emerging mycotoxins, including aflatoxins, fumonisins, zearalenone, ochratoxins, and ergot alkaloids.

In poultry trials, birds consuming naturally contaminated feed containing DON, FA, andzearalenone displayed better feed conversion ratios and reduced immunestressmarkers. Similarly, Mycosorb A+ Evo, enriched with a bacterial component andalgal material, demonstrated enhanced interaction with Penicillium toxins like penicillicacid, a key contaminant in ruminant feed.

Collectively, these findings show that the Mycosorb Evo range doesn't merely bindtoxins— it actively supports gut health, minimizes systemic exposure, and sustains productivityacross species.

From Data to Decision-Making

The true strength of Alltech's Mycotoxin Management Programlies in its data-drivenapproach. Using the Risk Equivalent Quantity (REQ) model, complex contaminationdata are converted into actionable insights. When paired with Alltech® RAPIREAD™ technology and the Alltech Mycotoxin Management Portal, producers canaccessreal-time contamination maps, species-specific risk assessments, and tailoredrecommendations.

Beyond technology, Alltech's program provides comprehensive producer support—from sampling and analysis to expert consultation and digital monitoring. This holisticapproach empowers farmers to make informed, proactive decisions and stay aheadof evolving mycotoxin challenges.

Smarter Protection for a More Resilient Future

Whether tackling fertility issues in sows, milk yield reductions in dairy herds, or eggquality concerns in layers, the Mycosorb Evo range delivers targeted, scientificallyvalidated protection. By combining advanced innovation with actionable insights, Alltechhelps producers safeguard performance, strengthen resilience, and ensure healthier, more productive herds and flocks.
