Bird flu outbreak confirmed in Bulgaria

Bulgarian veterinary authorities have confirmed a new bird flu outbreak at a duck farm in Zalti Bryag, Haskovo Province, Reuters reported.

More than 5,800 ducks will be culled. This is the fifth farm affected by highly pathogenic avian influenza type A in the country since December 2021.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) said a wave of bird flu cases in Asia and Europe has an increased risk of spreading to humans due to a rising number of variants.
