China's census of pigs, sows at 90% of pre-ASF levels by November 2020
China's census of breeding pigs and sows was already at 90% of its normal, pre-African swine fever outbreak annual levels by the end of November last year, data from the country's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs shows.
In 23 provinces, production capacity has been restored ahead of schedule.
The production value of the Chinese pig industry represents one third of the total production value of animal husbandry, with pork production accounting for almost two thirds of meat production.
