EU grants soft wheat export licenses for 427,000 tonnes

EU licenses to export soft wheat increased by 427,000 tonnes for the week ended January 12.

This takes total EU wheat exports, 28 weeks into the 2009-10 marketing year, to 9.1 million tonnes, down from 11.8 million tonnes over the same period the previous year.

Total EU grain exports increased 472,000 on the week to 11.15 million tonnes for the year so far, compared with 17.5 million tonnes over the same period the previous year.

EU wheat imports, 28 weeks into the marketing year, increased 33,000 tonnes on the week to 2.24 million tonnes, compared with 3.89 million tonnes over the same period the previous year.

Total grain imports for the first 28 weeks were at 5.37 million tonnes compared with 7.11 million tonnes over the same period the previous year.
