Turkey to purchase milling wheat in tender
Traders said TMO, Turkey's state grain board, has begun to make provisional purchases of wheat in an international import tender, with about 320,000 tonnes initially bought, Nasdaq reported.
Negotiations are ongoing for additional wheat with a 12% protein content, the traders said, and the tender is asking for a total of 565,000 tonnes.
The traders also said a sizable portion of the wheat was anticipated to come from the Black Sea region, particularly from Russia and Ukraine.
The tonnages purchased through TMO's tenders are tentative and will need to be confirmed. Purchases can be stopped altogether or reduced.
The tender can include imports and supplies that are already on hand in Turkey's warehouses.
The port of unloading/delivery, the number of tonnes sold, the seller, and the price in dollars per tonne c&f for imports or the price delivered ex warehouse in Turkey were all reported by the traders in the tender.
