Indonesia may increase wheat import in 2013

Despite imposing 20% duty on it, Indonesia is expected to import a higher amount of wheat this year, so as to guard the local industry from Turkish exporters.

The country imported six million tonnes of wheat last year, as compared to 5.5 million tonnes in 2011.

The Indonesian government has imposed an emergency safeguarding tax on wheat imports, as a result of alleged dumping in its domestic market.
