Ukraine distributes two-million-tonne grain export quotas
Ukraine's Economic Development and Trade Ministry has allocated grain export quotas totalling 2.018 million tonnes to be exported before March 31, the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation announced Wednesday (Jan 12).
The quotas were distributed at a meeting of the Ministry's committee Tuesday (Jan 11), including 500,000 tonnes of wheat to 15 exporting companies and 1.518 million tonnes of corn to 26 exporters.
The previous distribution of export quotas took place November 12, when export quotas including 500,000 tonnes of wheat, 200,000 tonnes of barley and 1.482 tonnes of corn were distributed among exporters.
The government imposed a quota of 2.7 million tonnes on the export of grain October 19 - December 31, including 500,000 tonnes of wheat, 200,000 tonnes of barley, two million tonnes of corn and 1,000 tonnes each rye and buckwheat. Later the quota was extended to the end of March this year and increased by 1.5 million tonnes, including 500,000 tonnes of wheat and one million tonnes of corn.
