ASF confirmed in late December in Albanian village
The official veterinarian of Albania's Shëngjin Administrative Unit on December 25 last year found that eight pigs on a farm with 71 pigs in the village of Ishull-Lezhë had died from African swine fever (ASF).
On December 26, the Veterinary Service of the Lezhë Sector found that seven more pigs died. Official samples sent for testing were confirmed positive for ASF on the same day.
The affected farm, which was immediately placed under veterinary supervision, was in a 10-km surveillance zone.
