China lysine prices weaken further as supply exceeds demand

Lysine prices continued to slide during the week ending January 14.

With supplies in excess, lysine producers continued to cut prices in a bid to entice buyers. Nonetheless, as the hog disease situation showed no signs of improving, feed millers were reluctant to increase stockpiles.

Price quotes of 70-percent lysine softened to RMB5-5.20/kg.

Lysine usages will remain slow as soymeal prices are low and the protein requirements of animal feeds have been lowered.

RMB1=US$0.1479 (Jan 16)
