Pakistan's chicken meat price declines

The price of chicken meat in Pakistan has reported a drop of PKR30 (US$0.31) in Karachi in the retail market and is currently available at PKR220 (US$2.26) per kilogramme against PKR260 (US$67) per kilogramme a few days ago.

According to Business Recorder, retailers said high prices are responsible for pushing chicken meat sales down, adding that the sharp decline has enabled a large segment of society to afford the white meat.

Giving reasons for the unexpected decline in the prices of poultry products, retailers said the declining purchasing power of an overwhelming number of poultry customers helped bring the prices down.

They expressed hope that with the reduction of prices, demand for chicken meat may increase substantially.
