Lallemand's main European bacteria production site granted FAMI-QS and ISO 9001:2000 certificates
Lallemand has announced that its state-of-the-art bacteria production site, located in St. Simon in central France, has been awarded the FAMI-QS (Feed Additives and Premixtures Quality System) certificate from BVQI, the international certification body. The St. Simon production site has been ISO certified for four years, and the new BVQI audit confirmed the high standard of the company's quality management system. A new ISO 9001:2000 certificate was also delivered by BVQI. The St. Simon facilities produce specific, pharma grade live bacteria strains for animal and human nutrition, pharmaceutical applications as well as silage inoculants.
Francine Leblanc, VP Quality Assurance, said, "The new FAMI-QS certification strengthens our existing quality system and confirms our commitment to quality. They are the international recognition that our bacterial products, destined for animal as well as for human nutrition meet the strictest quality, safety and traceability guidelines. In today's context of food safety awareness, it is a seal of guarantee for our partners and the public."
The new FAMI-QS code of practice and certification aim at ensuring the safety of feed additives and premixtures, harmonisation in the EU of feed hygiene requirements, and improving traceability in accordance with the latest European Feed Hygiene Regulation (Regulation no. 183/2005/EC0). ISO 9001:2000, the latest addition to the well-known family of quality standards, integrates the international references ISO 9001, ISO 9002 and ISO 9003 standards.
