Mongolia's provinces struck by swine fever outbreaks

The African swine fever disease has struck four provinces in Mongolia, leading to the deaths of thousands of pigs, according to local media reports that cited the country's State Central Veterinary Laboratory.

The laboratory identified Bulgan and Orkhon in the north of Mongolia, as well as Tuv (central) and Dundgovi (south) as areas affected by swine fever. Thousands of pigs have died so far, with 250 reported dead in Orkhon.

In response to the situation, authorities have suspended the transport of pigs and related products within the provinces. The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry has also asked local governments to step up monitoring and take necessary measures to fight the disease.
