Taiwan Buys 47,000 MT US Corn From Mitsui

 

Taiwan's Members Feed Industry Group bought 47,000 metric tons of U.S. corn from Mitsui & Co. in a tender Thursday, said a MFIG official.

 

Of the total volume, MFIG paid US$172.24 a ton, cost and freight, for 14,160 tons, said the official.

 

The remaining 32,840 tons were purchased at a premium of 165.52 U.S. cents a bushel to the Chicago Board of Trade's May corn contract, C&F, he said.

 

Shipment dates will be Feb. 15-29 from the U.S. Gulf, or March 1-15 from the Pacific Northwest.

 

Dec. 24, MFIG bought 42,000 tons of U.S. No. 2 corn from Agrex Inc. in a tender. Of the total, MFIG purchased 2,000 tons at US$121.06/ton, free on board. The remaining 40,000 tons were purchased at a premium of 67.50c/bu to CBOT March, FOB. The freight cost is around US$42/ton. Shipment dates will be Feb. 16 to March 1 from the Pacific Northwest.
