Trouw Nutrition spotlights science-based strategies to transform feed safety and poultry performance in 2026

Trouw Nutrition, Nutreco's livestock feed business, is spotlighting PhytoComplex discoveries to naturally support flock health and performance, along with digital tools to improve the efficiency, economics, and environmental footprint of poultry production, during the International Poultry and Processing Exposition (IPPE) on January 28-30 in Atlanta, Georgia, the United States.

Beyond interactive demonstrations at booth #A823, Trouw Nutrition will offer a deep dive into its transformative PhytoComplex discoveries. Following are highlights of Trouw Nutrition's presence at IPPE 2026:

PhytoComplexes: Leveraging plants' biochemical complexity to enhance animal health and resilience

PhytoComplexes are carefully designed mixtures of plant-derived bioactive compounds that interact with the animal's physiology through signal transduction pathways. By modulating immune function, gut integrity, and metabolic processes in the intestinal lining, PhytoComplexes enable animals to decode plant signals and mount adaptive responses.

On Wednesday, January 28, at 4:00-4:20 pm, Dr. Gustavo Carneiro will deliver an IPPE TECHTalk that explores how shifting poultry nutrition from a reactive strategy targeting pathogens to a proactive approach supporting physiological enhancement can help birds more fully achieve their genetic potential.

Dr. Carneiro will explain how a specific PhytoComplex has been shown to address the longstanding challenge of optimising broiler growth without suppressing immune regulation.

Turning science into insights and practical solutions that transform the poultry business

An IPSF talk by Dr. Nienke de Groot on Tuesday, January 27, at 7:45 am will share findings from a field trial involving more than 900,000 commercial broilers. The large-scale trial investigated how an extensively researched formulated PhytoComplex (Fytera Perform) improved broiler performance in a commercial setting.

Broilers receiving Fytera Perform had their growth performance improved significantly, with higher final body weights, improved average daily gains, reduced feed conversion ratio, and a higher European Production Efficiency Factor compared to birds in the control group.

Trouw Nutrition will also present their latest innovation on Digital Twins at IPSF.  This predictive broiler growth model, called BroilerSim, was tested using data from 11 commercial trials as well as research trials. BroilerSim proved to be highly precise and accurate, looking at growth performance and nutrient response across diverse datasets. This tool can help farmers to compare feeding strategies, projecting performance, and conducting "what if" nutrition scenarios in broiler production, supporting farmers in making fast decisions with more clarity.

Precision nutrition and simulation tools to support sustainability, feed safety, and better farm economics

Visitors to Trouw Nutrition's booth at IPPE can check out digital tools including the "digital twin" technology presented at IPSF. A true virtual reality tour allows visitors to walk through Nutreco's Garden of the Future, encompassing Nutreco's phytotechnology innovations that leverage plants' biochemical complexity to enhance animal health and resilience.

Trouw Nutrition will also display digital tools to support feed formulators' and nutritionists' feed safety efforts at the mill and on the farm. Booth visitors can learn about the Mycomaster, an easy-to-use tool that efficiently scans on-site for the six main mycotoxins and delivers reliable results in five to 15 minutes.

As poultry producers face ongoing pressure to lower the environmental footprint of feed production and support animal welfare, IntelliBond trace minerals provide a bioavailable source for meeting animals' nutritional needs without excess minerals accumulating in body tissues or being excreted into the environment. New research findings presented at IPPE indicate that overfeeding is a concern in the livestock sector and that IntelliBond minerals can help ensure that diets meet the precise needs of the animal without oversupplying minerals.

"The poultry industry is facing increased pressure to achieve sustainability goals, comply with regulatory constraints, and meet retailers' and consumers' expectations while maintaining profitability," said Jose Manuel De La Fuente Garcia, Global Strategic Marketing Director (Poultry).

"Trouw Nutrition is excited to exhibit at IPPE and show how research and innovation can help poultry producers around the globe meet demand for safe, sustainable protein and effectively feed the future."
