37,000 chickens to be culled in Germany due to bird flu
Germany's Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state Agriculture Ministry said 37,000 chickens will be culled after highly pathogenic H5N8 bird flu was detected at a farm in Kobrow in the state, located east of the country, Reuters reported.
Germany and the rest of Europe has reported several bird flu outbreaks on farms, with migratory wild birds suspected to be spreading the virus.
France will extend mass culling of poultry to contain its bird flu virus outbreak southwest of the country, a major duck breeding area.
