Rusagro Group to build pig farm in Russian region

 

 

Rusagro Group is eyeing to construct a RUB13-billion (US$1.04-billion) pig farm in the Chelyabinsk region by 2016.

 

Regional authorities agreed to construct infrastructure and not levy property tax for a term of five years. The complex will consists of 32 sites with total area of 600 ha in the Uysky and Chebarkulsky districts.

 

The construction of Rusagro Group's farm and staged commissioning will be held in 2011- 2016. Agriculture Minister of the Chelyabinsk region Ivan Feklin said that the farm is expected to produce 90,000 tonnes of pork per year.

 

Currently, the Chelyabinsk region produces 60,000 tonnes per year, he said.
