India to decide around March-April to lift ban on wheat exports

Santosh Kumar Sarangi, India's Director General of Foreign Trade, said the government will decide to lift the ban on wheat exports at the time of crop harvest around March to April this year, Business Recorder reported.

He said that before making the decision, the country's wheat supply and demand gap would need to be examined.

India banned the export of wheat beginning in May 2022 with the goal of controlling the rise in domestic prices.

Sarangi said arrangements will be made to allow the export of this food grain at the time when it will be felt that there is a balance in the demand and supply of wheat.

The Director General of Foreign Trade was in Indore to take part in the government-organized Global Investors Summit.
