China's 2010 corn, soy output rises
China's corn and soy production rose last year while rapeseed likely declined 8% and wheat was unchanged, the state-backed China National Grain and Oil Information Centre said in a regular estimate Wednesday (Jan 12).
Corn output likely increased 5% to 172.5 million tonnes, according to the centre, while wheat output was unchanged at 115.1 million tonnes. The forecasts were unchanged from December.
Production of soy rose 1.5% to 15.2 million tonnes. Only rapeseed registered a decline, falling nearly 8% to 12.6 million tonnes, it said.
Acreage across agricultural categories rose last year, except for a marginal decline for soy, it said.
