Indian state reports bird flu outbreak
The state of Odisha, India has reported bird flu outbreak among wild birds and poultry after a recent declaration that the South-Asian nation is free from the viral infection.
According to The Times of India, the government has sent samples of 300 birds, mostly crows and poultry, to the High Security Animal Disease Laboratory in Bhopal, after hundreds of crows died in the state last week," Satyabrata Sahu, Secretary of the Fishery and Animal Resources Department says.
Odisha is the new name for the state previously known as Orissa.
