India to allow FMD vaccination on livestock

The Indian government is set to allow livestock vaccination against foot and mouth disease (FMD).

The mass vaccination is geared at India's large buffalo herd as well as the cattle herd.

The University of Queensland in Australia has developed a new vaccine that can identify cattle that has been vaccinated from cattle that has not.

This new process saves unwarranted mass slaughter of all animals should an outbreak occur.
