Record export of seafood from Norway 2005

Exports of seafood in Norway reached record levels last year, hitting NOK31.7 billion (US$4.5 billion) in 2005, a 10-percent increase over 2004, according to figures from the Export Council for Fish (EFF).

If the Norwegian export of fish products was divided up into 200 gram portions, it would mean that Norway produced 27 million portions each day last year, said EFF CEO Svein Berg.

Forty-seven percent of the export came from the fish farming industry and the rest were wild catch.
