EU needs 2-percent rise in dairy quota

The European Commission looks on a 2-percent increase in dairy quotas starting April 2008 to augment the of dairy cows throughout EU.

In EU, around 800,000 more cows would be needed. France in particular needs additional 75,000 cows to meet its current milk quota, the French daily newspaper Le Monde, reported.

If the 2 percent quota increase is approved, France will approximately need 115,000 cows.
