India's Punjab to set up modern dairy plants
Punjab, in the northwest of India, aims to build technically-advanced dairy farms, following suit to New Delhi.
State cooperation minister, Kanwaljit Singh, announced plans to secure technical background from India's National Dairy Institute.
Kanwaljit pledges to get farmers out of the wheat-paddy cycle as they were spending a lot for low remuneration. He encourages farmers to look into dairy farming as a better option.
The state government of Punjab intends to set up around 150 dairy farms with 80 approved projects already.
Aside from dairy farms, the local government will also look into the cultivation of vegetables to provide quality seeds.
