Pilgrim's Pride names VP of governmental affairs

Pittsburg, Texas-based Pilgrim's Pride Corp. on Wednesday announced the appointment of Wayne Lord as vice president of governmental affairs.

Lord will oversee the company's governmental-affairs programme in this newly created position. Based in Atlanta, Lord previously served as vice president of corporate relations for Gold Kist Inc.

Pilgrim's Pride completed its acquisition of Gold Kist this week, paying US$1.1 billion in cash and assuming US$141 million in debt. 

Lord, a 28-year agribusiness veteran, would report to Pilgrim's Pride Vice Chairman Clifford Butler.
