Jordan's livestock official denies FMD outbreak among cows in Dhleil

Jordan's Assistant Secretary-General for Livestock at the country's Ministry of Agriculture Ali Abu Nuqta has declared that there is no outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) among cows in the Dhleil area.
Abu Nuqta added that infections were limited to five farms, some of which received vaccinations from the private sector and others from the ministry.
He confirmed that the ministry is ready and capable to keep the situation under control, adding that they are implementing quarantine and other precautionary measures to limit further infections.
He also added that samples were sent to the laboratories of the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) to identify the strains that cows were exposed to.
