The US rejected a total of 53 shrimp entry lines in 2018 due to contamination of banned antibiotics. This is slightly below the previous year's 55 and is the smallest number of shrimp entry lines refused for banned antibiotics since 2006, according to a report by the Southern Shrimp Alliance.

In December alone, the FDA reported three shrimp refusals out of the 78 (3.8%) total seafood entry line refusals for reasons related to banned antibiotics.

Moreover, the FDA updated its reporting for the month of November to include an additional three entry line refusals of shrimp related to banned antibiotics.

The three additional shrimp entry line refusals for November and the three others for December were from two exporters—Minh Phu – Hau Giang Seafood Joint Stock Co. of Vietnam and Zhanjiang Longwei Aquatic Products Industry Co. Ltd. of China.
