Saudi Fisheries to build US$4.5-million aqua feed mill in Asir province

Saudi Arabia's Saudi Fisheries confirmed the construction of an aqua feed mill, to be located at the site of their main shrimp and fish processing plant in Al Huraidha, Asir Province.

The plan was first announced to shareholders in October last year and is expected to be completed within eight months of signing the contract. Saudi Fisheries selected Chinese feed machinery manufacturers Muyang Group for the supply and construction of the feed mill.

The feed mill will be built at a cost of SAR16.7 million (US$4.5 million), and will have a capacity of 20 tonnes per hour, equivalent to 96,000 tonnes per annum. The feed produced by the new aqua feed mill will support the fish and shrimp farming operations of the company.

With the new feed mill, the company targets to reduce its production costs by up to 30% and will also allow the company greater control on the quality of their fish feed.
