EU confirms support for fish industries by 2007-2013
EU recently announced its approval for the operational programmes for fish industries in Portugal, Estonia, Romania and Italy from 2007 to 2013.
In Portugal, the total eligible public expenditure of the programme is EUR324.9 million (US$477 million), with EU assistance through the European Fisheries Fund (EFF) amounting to EUR246.5 (US$361 million).
From 2000-2006 period, Portugal benefited over EUR239 million (US$351 million) from EU through the Financial Instrument for Fisheries Guidance (FIFG).
Estonia gets a total eligible public expenditure of EUR113 million (US$165 million), with EU assistance through the EFF amounting to EUR85 million (US$124 million).
In Romania, the programme is EUR308 (US$452 million) with EU assistance through EFF at EUR231 million (US$339 million).
The programme covers the entire territory of Romania which is designated as a whole as convergence region.
In Italy, the public expenditure programme is EUR849 million (US$1.2 billion), with EU assistance through the EFF reaching EUR424 million (US$622 million).
