With optimistic results in production, Namib Poultry is one of the recent companies to benefit from Pas Reform's SmartPro™ single stage incubation technology.
The integrated poultry producer came into Namibia's poultry market two years ago, riding on increasing domestic demand and the country's growing economy.
Based on a centrally located 5,000 hectare land space, the company's facilities include six breeder farms with a combined total of 90,000 broiler breeder hens, seven broiler units, a hatchery and processing plant.
The hatchery is equipped with nine SmartSetPro™ setters and 12 SmartHatchPro™ hatchers, producing 250,000 day old chicks weekly. The facility is also capable of boosting production further to cope with rising demand.
In addition, a centralised SmartCenter™ hatchery information system is available to direct the hatching process.
To support a favourable environment for livestock, SmartPro™'s modular design allows for the control of temperature and humidity levels during incubation as well as climate management throughout the hatchery, for example, through the use of large mobile fan units in the chick holding area.
In regards to hatchery hygiene, Pas Reform had helped to train personnel in using a simple colour-coded system for separate areas of the facility. The easy-clean design features of SmartPro™ setters and hatchers make it convenient to clean incubation equipment thoroughly between hatch cycles.
