Cobb Vantress teams up with Hendrix Genetics
Cobb-Vantress and Hendrix Genetics announced alliance today to strengthen both companies' position in the broiler breeding industry and genetics.
The joint venture agreement states that Cobb-Vantress acquires Hybro, the broiler breeding division of Hendrix, in exchange for preferred stock.
The two companies will also start a joint development agreement (JDA) involving their research and development into livestock genetics.
Furthermore, Cobb and Hendrix look into possibilities of a joint venture in which part or all activities may be combined in the future.
Jerry Moye, president of Cobb-Vantress said that they share very similar vision and strategy with the Hendrix group. He added that combining their efforts of R&D will make them more efficient, and ultimately more successful.
Thijs Hendrix, president of Hendrix Genetics, added that the joint venture will allow them to explore new platforms in animal breeding and life sciences.
Cobb-Vantress is based in Siloam Springs, Arkansas in the US and is a leading supplier of broiler breeding stock and technical expertise for the chicken meat industry. Cobb serves the world's broiler industry in more than 90 countries.
Hendrix Genetics, in the Netherlands, is a multi species breeding company, with 5 divisions: layer breeding, broiler breeding pig breeding, turkey breeding and poultry distribution. Hendrix Genetics operates in more than 100 countries.
