India's December soymeal exports at 506,300 tonnes

India's soymeal exports in December 2006 are estimated at 506,300 tonnes, up from 492,950 tonnes a year earlier, according to data issued Monday (Dec 8) by the Solvent Extractors Association (SEA).

SEA is the lobby group of local oilseeds and edible oils traders and processors.

It said total exports of oilmeal in December rose to 626,675 tonnes from 579,700 tonnes a year earlier.

The association said the rise in exports was mainly due to strong demand from Vietnam, China and South Korea and Japan.

Total exports of oilmeal between April and December are estimated at 3.17 million tonnes, up from 2.40 million tonnes a year earlier.

Exports of soymeal during April to December rose to 2.15 million tonnes from 1.64 million tonnes a year earlier.
