UK fish feed company aims for GBP300-million revenue

UK fish feed company Dragon Feeds is planning to bring in revenues of more than GBP300 million.

The South Wales-based firm, established in 1997, is a pioneer of new technology in the production of sustainable fish feeds. Processed at its Port Talbot mill, the firm's rag worm-based fish feed has been commercialised successfully.

Next month, the company will open a new mill at Port Talbot, an industrial town in the traditional county of Glamorgan, South Wales, thus increasing its feed production capacity by 24 tonnes a day.

Next year, its massive production expansion plans include the opening of a new operation at a GE gas-powered Energy Park. The company has an agreement with GE to harvest steam generated by the gas station, to be used at Dragon Feeds' new mill. The mill can then produce 500,000 tonnes of fish and shrimp feed a year.

The firm's managing director, Tony Smith said that it already has an impressive list of global fish farm clients, including those in South America, Europe and the Caribbean.

With the average price for fish feed at GBP600/kg currently, the company is looking at revenues of GBP300 million annually, he revealed.
