Poland poultry sales growing at 12% per year
Poultry markets in Poland have been boosted, with half of the country's annual exports attributed to China and South Africa, two recently recovered markets, reported Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
The new report comes amid a H5N8 bird flu outbreak in the country, with seven cases reported from late December last year to January 8, 2020. Recent cases have been reported in the Lublin region and Greater Poland area.
Close to 100,000 poultry have been culled to stop the spread of the disease.
However, the disease has not largely affected domestic poultry production. According to data from the country's central statistical office, Poland raises about 200 million poultry annually.
Poland's poultry production is focused in Wielkopolska and Mazovia, with the latter accounting for one fifth of the country's poultry production.
