Mainland China ships its first batch of certified eggs to Hong Kong
China last week shipped the first batch of certified eggs approved under its new and more stringent regulations.
The shipment of 270,000 eggs from Hubei province was the first shipment since China tightened its monitoring of sanitary standards for poultry eggs.
A spokesman from Hong Kong's Centre for Food Safety said the certified standard would allow Hong Kong to work closely with mainland China authorities to crack down on shipment of uncertified illegal eggs.
