Jordan's hatching egg exports up 30% last year

Khaled Al-Huneifat, Jordan's Minister of Agriculture, said the nation exported 121 million hatching eggs last year compared to 90 million eggs in 2021, a 30% increase, Jordan News reported.

Huneifat said the ministry is attempting to increase agricultural exports through agreements with farmers through an agricultural marketing firm in order to enter new markets with non-traditional goods.

The company's management is currently working to find competitive products with export potential in foreign markets, and he urged farmers to stay in touch with them.

He emphasised the readiness of agricultural extension plans within a production strategy to enhance food security and increase agricultural exports. Last year, the ministry oversaw production in the southern Jordan Valley through the national plan for sustainable agriculture to address shortages and identify export crops, he said.

Jordan also exported 570,000 head of sheep in 2022 compared to 430,000 head the year prior, a 30% increase.
