Germany to cull 62,000 poultry after bird flu detected in Cloppenburg

 
 

62,000 ducks and turkeys will be culled after bird flu was detected in two poultry farms in the Cloppenburg, Lower Saxony state, Germany, according to the Cloppenburg local government authority, Reuters reported.

 

Cloppenburg is a major poultry production state in Germany.

 

Bird flu outbreaks have been reported across Europe in the past number of weeks, believed to be spread by migratory wild birds. The virus has also been reported in the UK, France, and elsewhere in Germany.
