Israel: Turkeys affected by Newcastle disease outbreak
An outbreak of Newcastle disease affecting turkeys in Hazafon has been reported by the Director of Veterinary Services and Animal Health in Israel's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Nadav Galon.
The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) receives follow-up report no. 6 on January 1. The affected population consists of 30-day-old turkeys.
A total of 19,000 birds are found susceptible to the outbreak, out of which 3,000 cases are identified. A total of 3,000 deaths are recorded, and the remaining 16,000 turkeys are destroyed.
The source of the outbreak remains inconclusive and the epidemiological investigation is ongoing.
