Kemin's KemTRACE Chronium Propionate approved for swine use in Canada

Press Release

Kemin Industries announced that the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has permitted the use of KemTRACE Chromium Propionate into breeding and lactating gilts and sows in Canada.

According to Cody Swan, product manager for Kemin Agrifoods, Kemin is pleased to receive this additional product registration in Canada for KemTRACE Chromium Propionate.  This product is designed to provide swine producers with a powerful tool to maximize the nutritional value of feed.

KemTRACE Chromium Propionate is a safe, highly bio-available, and patented organic chromium source which is intended to improve average daily gain when fed continuously from weaning to finishing. Furthermore, this product is also used as a chromium supplement for breeding and lactating gilts and sows.

In Canada, KemTRACE Chromium Propionate is available for use in growing and finishing Duroc swine. Chromium has been shown to affect insulin sensitivity and as a result promote glucose uptake in the US. This product has been permitted in all phases of US swine since 2000. It is also currently the only chromium source available for use in cattle in the US.

Kemin provides health and nutritional solutions to the agrifoods, food ingredients, pet food, human health and pharmaceutical industries. The company operates in more than 60 countries with manufacturing facilities.
