Vietnam Agro-forestry And Seafood Production Value Up 5.4 Percent In 2004

Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and seafood production value rose to more than 173 trillion VND in 2004, a 5.4 percent year-on-year rise, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

To the figure, the agricultural sector contributed 133 trillion VND, a year-on-year increase of 4.2 percent; the forestry sector, 6.2 trillion VND, a 0.9 percent rise; and the fisheries sector, 34 trillion VND, an increase of 11.2 percent.

Aquatic product output is estimated to have increased 7.7 percent to 3.07 million tonnes, with aquaculture production up 15.2 percent; and catching, 3.6 percent.
