BioZyme launches new brand for fermentation products

US animal nutrition company BioZyme, Inc. has launched its newest brand, AO-Biotics, a line of fermentation products derived from BioZyme's innovative fermentation of Aspergillus oryzae (AO) that promote resilience.
The first product addition to AO-Biotics is Amaferm. For more than 50 years, Amaferm has been the hallmark ingredient in BioZyme's premier line of animal nutritional supplements and health products. It is a prebiotic research-proven to enhance digestibility.
While research continues to expand on Amaferm, BioZyme is also on track to develop new products under the AO-Biotics brand. These will include both prebiotics and postbiotics.
"We are very passionate about utilising our expertise in AO fermentation to develop new products that address common challenges in animal agriculture globally," said Lisa Norton, president and chief executive officer of BioZyme.
BioZyme, a member of the International Science Association for Probiotics and Prebiotics (ISAPP), has been manufacturing and marketing prebiotics. However, the inaugural sales of postbiotics are scheduled for the first quarter of 2023.
Postbiotics are defined by ISAPP as "a preparation of inanimate microorganisms and/or their components that confers a health benefit on the host." These may include inactivated microbial cells, cell components or metabolites. AO's capacity to produce unique cell components and metabolites makes it ideal for generating innovative postbiotics.
"We are using AO as a bio-factory to create biotics that promote an animal's resilience to overcome specific challenges, whatever those may be," said Lynsey Whitacre, PhD, senior manager of New Product Development. "It's an innovative approach that we have proven works, but we are only beginning to scratch the surface of what is possible."
