Denmark to cull 9,000 poultry at farm in Viborg Municipality due to H5N8 bird flu

9,000 poultry are set to be culled in Denmark after H5N8 bird flu was detected on a poultry farm in Lovel village, bordering the Viborg Municipality, Jutland Peninsula, according to the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration (DVFA), Yeni Safak Turkey reported.

The DVFA said measures must be taken to curb the spread of bird flu by wild birds in poultry farms.

Denmark's rising number of bird flu cases has resulted in temporary export bans of poultry and eggs to Japan, Singapore, Russia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Several bird flu outbreaks have been reported in Europe over the past few weeks, believed to be spread by wild birds. Previous bird flu outbreaks in the region has caused tens of millions of birds to be culled, severely affecting the poultry industry there.
