Poland's turkey farms report bird flu outbreak
Poland, Europe's largest poultry producing country, reported a new case of bird flu in turkey farms in east Poland, with 40,000 birds expected to be culled, reported Reuters.
Andrzej Danielak, Polish association of breeders and poultry producers' president said three turkey farms in Lubartowski, east Poland have been discovered with bird flu, the first case of the disease in the country since 2017.
He said 350,000 birds are at risk of the disease within a three-kilometre radius of the infected farms.
Lubartowski county local authorities said veterinary services have been dispatched to quickly eradicate the virus, a subtype of the H5N8 bird flu that can be harmful to humans.
