China and Uruguay amend live cattle trade deal
The governments of China and Uruguay had amended this week a trade deal for the export of live cattle from Montevideo to the Asian country.
The initial orders were signed for fattening cattle, and dairy cows and heifers. The steers will go into feedlots in China, and fed to 650 kg live weight prior to slaughter.
While Uruguay had exported live cattle to Malaysia, this is the first time China purchased from outside Australia and New Zealand.
