Abstract
Grape (Vitis vinifera) polyphenols act as a multimodal antioxidant in animal nutrition, neutralizing free radicals, chelating pro-oxidant metals, activating the Nrf2/ARE pathway and modulating inflammatory pathways, unlike single-mechanism antioxidants such as vitamin E and selenium. Cellular evidence shows a grape extract-based molecule (ENTAN) restored cell viability and reduced lipid peroxidation in hepatocyte- and salmonid-derived cell lines under oxidative challenge, and applications in poultry and pigs link improved redox balance to egg quality, fertility, feed efficiency and meat quality.
